Antique Views On Old Time America: A Currier & Ives Print + Bonus ATC Background

One of the nicest things we've received in a while is a partial print collection from a dear and prized associate. Our fellow Possum has a big heart and a valuable set of ideas, one of them being how a few additional goodies here or there might be fun to use.
In this one, there is a definite summer appeal. The calm water, the fisherman, the people on the grass, plus all the foliage, combined, speaks to a peaceful environment far from the crowded life of the city dweller.
Makes me want to take a quiet boat out onto still water and look at the summer sunset.
For more info on this grand tradition in American printmaking, you can go HERE.
We're taking the liberty of also offering an ATC background version of this view on American rural life in the 1800's. Hope our readers find plenty to do with their summer, including with this old print.
Happy Summertime Fun, all!

Rose..I love this!! Somewhere..amongst boxes in my garage, from my parents house, is a collection of Currier and Ives prints! My mother loved them..one of her favorites!! (she also had LARGE prints of Pinky and Blue Boy beautifully framed and hanging in her living room..I have them now..not hanging). Such a lovely memory of my mom!!!I think I'll use this to make a Mom-memory!! thanks so much!! xoxo

Ann: What a sweet comment! I love those old prints, too. Someone close had a set of Currier & Ives dishes once upon a time, all in a coffee ton eon cream. They're such a n American tradition, those old prints.
Glad you've found inspiration at our latest post!
;)

Okay, that should read "all in a coffee tone on cream"
Good grief!

I love this print. It hung over the piano in our living room with other C & I prints.
I imagined so many things while I practiced. Great memories.
hugs, amy

Amy: we're so glad to have shared it here for you. That makes me happy. You must have many fond memories of your childhood. You refer to it often. Your grandmother especially sticks in my thoughts--again, with smiles.
