For the Harvest: a Free Illustration

A Free Harvest Graphic of Old Alsace

Isn't this an interesting taste of the world's past? Most people were farmers only a century or two ago. Then heavy industry was introduced, and mining became more of a concern so that metals could be had for the use of industrial machines. (This led to more coal mining, as well)

We have mainly forgotten some of the simpler joys of bringing our harvest in from the fields, as a personal "harvest" would appear to happen nearly every time that there is a new paycheck.

I respect the farming peoples of the world, as I do all working men and women. This old print will hopefully teach us a little history about the region of Alsace, along with their harvesting season. The woman with the rake is a favorite of mine, yet they all look interesting to me.

Alsace would later become a hotly contested area during two World Wars, during which times much history was lost due to the vagaries and ugliness of war.

Let's bring our Harvest in today with love and concern for our neighbors! And let's share the bounty with those less fortunate than ourselves as well.

Happy Harvest Creativity everybody!

Oceanic Beauty: A Colorful Ornamental Fish

A Fish Ornament for Page Decorating

This was originally found in the Public domain, yet had to be altered significantly before it could be used. Please read the red letter guidelines at the bottom of this post. Thank you.

I actually liked how different colors could be given to this fish so that its appearance could become very different. This made it a fairly versatile image to offer. The original colors of blue and salmon pink were augmented using Photoshop. Then, once other colors were tried, all of them seemed fairly successful. The copper colored one is a personal favorite.

Within the Background Set, offered previously, are the same colors of blue and pink. The Coral seems to work nicely as a darker version of this pink (at least on my screen--and everybody's is different, believe it or not). The Aquamarine Background seems to work nicely with the blue half of the more colorful version of this fish ornament. The Background Set, also in both sizes, may be found by going HERE.

Other accessories are likewise available in more than one post, so exploring this blog's most recent offerings might be fun.

Once the fish ornament became altered, other background colors were then added. In other words, it should all color coordinate fairly well, depending upon the style of printer in a guest's home office. That is the main reason for offering 7 different colors and numerous choices here at PPS.

Creative people love to use accessories! And we also love to use color!

So here is the Ornamental Fish Set, in 2 different sizes, one for Printing and one for purely Digital purposes. The print version should print fairly well using any home printer. The larger one, of course, is mainly for the DigiScrap crowd, and thus is not intended to fit the average home printer.

Despite its usefulness in the making of scrapbooks and memory books, I can see this fish ornament as possibly being used in the making of a card or an art journal page. It's really very unusual, wouldn't you agree?

Happy Creativity!

Free Ocean Plant and Animal Images

Oceanic Beauty for Collage, Book Arts, etc. in Print and Digital Formats

This is a favorite, mainly due to the fact that I like the purple and violet colors in nature. I also enjoy the greens of nature. Both colors are also offered in an earlier post of Backgrounds, in 2 sizes, one for Print and one for Digital. There are 5 other colors to choose from there.

This purple Accessory Set comes both ways as well, and with half inch borders on all 4 sides, but is in a For Print size.

This Accessory Set is intended to mix and match with the Backgrounds offered over the weekend. The entire project began quite a while back. I actually cannot recall all of the details of its beginnings. The sources of these images were in the Public Domain, yet all of the images you see here had to be processed using Photoshop. That much, at least, I do recall.

The shells may be used for corner covers for photographs, or as embellishments. Examples of how this might look may be found below as well as HERE.  Some DigiScrappers may enjoy the larger size Backgrounds being offered, while our Adhesive style artists might prefer the more hands-on approach. For the latter, there is a smaller size Background being offered at that same link, above. Margin settings on home printers need to be reset for this one, as there is literally no bare margin whatsoever, but a professional copier or extension office could possibly handle the problem if that is what is needed.

I would not make the margins any greater in width than 1/8 of an inch, myself, on those smaller Backgrounds, otherwise some color would be lost. But you might have other clever ideas!

We each can be creative in unique ways!
:)

The fish ornament in the Example is an upcoming addition, soon to be offered here. This was a recent find.

Please read the red letter Guidelines beneath the images. Thank you. Digital Brush credits are included in the Background post.

Happy Creativity!

Visitors can expect the Purple Set tomorrow or the next day.

This entire project began with a set of backgrounds, each one in a different color. From Wet Sand and Coral to Aquamarine, each one has a different tone or quality. For the Background Set, which comes in 2 sizes, you can go HERE.

So here is the Nautilus Shell Set, ready to be used in either Digital or Adhesive creative techniques. It is hoped that this set will become useful for artists who are interested in this Oceanic Beauty style and theme.

More Free Oceanic Beauty Accessories

Oceanic Accessories in 3 Colors

These were created to match and blend or even contrast with the backgrounds and other Accessory Sets, some of which will soon be offered here at the Studio's blog. I love the dancing starfish! My favorites would have to be the shells, however.

HINT: It is recommended that when using adhesives of any kind that the shells be glued only to the photo corner holders, and never directly to photographs themselves. This will allow for later removal of photographs in future. It's nice to have the freedom to change a memory book or a scrapbook once in a while, isn't it?

Free DigiScrap Ocean backgrounds

Oceanic Beauty Backgrounds
PPSDigiScrap™ Oceanic Beauty Set Part 2

This new set began ages ago. I can't even recall exactly when every part of it was initially found and processed. Please read our credits and the red letter guidelines below these images.

It all begins with the background, and so that will have to be the first thing to supply our fellow DigiScrappers, Book Artists, Collage Artists, and Crafters with today.

This Background comes in 2 sizes, and in 7 color choices for each size. One is For Print, the other mainly Digi, unless you happen to have a Printer with the 12 inch by 12 inch size format option.

HINT: It is recommended that, if you should decide to use the Print version that is the smaller of the 2 being offered today, that all margins be adjusted on your computer's printer. The smaller, the better. Some printers allow for no margins at all. Even one eight of an inch would accommodate the best part of the smaller size here.

Soon to follow will be the Accessory Sets, some items from which were used in the Examples, shown in today's earlier post. These come in several different color ways and with many creative options to choose from.

But now for the Backgrounds. First will be the For Print Size, followed immediately by the DigiScrap size. This will be true for every color. All colors currently available in the set will be listed in this post, and in both sizes.

Happy Creativity!

Free Oceanic Images and Backgrounds

PPSDigiScrap™Oceanic Beauty
Part 1

(NOTE: Guests may view the entire Oceanic beauty Collection by following this link HERE.)

This is just a Sampler post, to show a few ways in which the elements within the Collection might be used. The very first post is all about showing our guests various examples of ways in which to use the new, big set. And it is a very big set of images. It is a favorite theme at the Studio.

This came from several things in the Studio's archives, along with several items found in the Public Domain. These have been processed, and offered as accessories, in several different ways.

Part 1 is all about the Examples. Background Color titles are listed this time underneath each of the examples. (These are the same backgrounds that will be offered later on, in both sizes.)

Part 2 will be Backgrounds in 2 sizes, 12 inches x 12 inches and 11inches x 8.5 inches. That will be posted later on, hopefully today.

Part 3 will include Accessories, an assembly of shells, undersea botanicals, and so forth. Hopefully this will be up before Monday.

Brushes used for the backgrounds were all by ObsidianDawn.com (that is a link).

So here is Part 1, or the Examples. These are hopefully a way for the Studio's guests to view a few of the many possibilities about to be offered within the new set.

Happy Creativity!

A ColorMe™ Page: A Tale from India for Boys

This PPSColorMe™ Page is all about a tiger with a serious paw problem. The boy is being brave and kind to the tiger. This is an ancient theme, found in another old story from Europe, one which involves a lion instead of a tiger.

I love the tiger's facial expression, don't you? And some boys can be very brave, indeed! Any act of kindness offers courage.

This image was initially found free online, but had to be cleaned up and updated a bit so that it would print. Please read our red guidelines and/or credits with your

Our Salute to Fire Fighters

Free Fire Fighter Graphics

Today is September 11th here in the USA, and therefore it is a solemn and important anniversary for us all.

In honor of the day's observances, the Studio is offering the following images for free. These were supplied initially by nypl.org. The first is a collage set. The second is a lower resolution item than would normally be offered here, but it appears to be the sort of item which children might color. It is a slice of history, an illustration from an old newspaper article. It looked rather untidy, and so has been softened a bit. It is by no means of fine enough quality for framing, but rather for coloring in by children.

Please read our red letters below for legal guidelines.
Thank you.

So here's to the heroes whose lives were in danger throughout that fateful time.
And here is our salute to just one gathering of people from among the many, many heroes of that time: the Fire Fighters. Quite frankly, I see them all as heroic all of the time for us. Somehow, though, during our disasters they seem to really rise to even greater heights as people with every harrowing act of heroism.

For Autumn: A Free Harvest Graphic of Nuts

Antique Autumn Harvest print

I love old pen and ink drawings on parchment, don't you? The way the parchment ages, and the ink with it, generally makes for a soft, warm set of tones for us to enjoy.

And it's such a pretty old document, that it seemed irresistible. It has had to have a few things done to it, of course. The size could only be expanded so much before it began to lose a bit of its clarity, so it is neither very large nor very expandable. However, it was just pretty enough to make it useful for collage, decoupage, Book Artistry, etc.

It is fast becoming one of my favorite finds in years.  A few clean-up skills had to be applied, as the machine it was scanned with had some dust, lint and possibly even a hair or two on its surface during scanning. It's always a matter of choice, as to how much cleaning could ruin the antique tone of any image, and so any try at so-called "perfection" would have simply ruined all of its antique charm. After all, it is well over 400 years old, and thus it has earned the right to look its age! But this just makes it more fun to look at, doesn't it?

This one is in the Public Domain, and that is where I think it needs to remain.

From the 1600's, a very volatile yet interesting century, and in the same year as the Great Fire of London, here is our latest Public Domain gift for our guests.

Free Basket Graphic

Baskets for Sale!--in this case, free!

I love old graphics, especially when they are in the Public Domain and can be freely had by anybody who might happen to like them.

This one had to be enhanced a little bit for our modern printers. It has been modified slightly in order to allow for coloring, etc.

I can only begin to imagine what this young Frenchman of the nineteenth century must have thought about his life and occupation. Times were difficult often in France during his era, as history shows us. (I actually am uncertain as to his nationality, but am guessing)

From his slightly crumpled hat to the ordinary way his clothes look, he was most likely trying hard to keep a roof over his head at the time. Many of us can no doubt relate to just such a struggle.

Today's graphic is being offered two ways, in sepia tone and in black and white. This is now in the Public Domain, free for anybody interested in it. (Please see red guidelines, below)

New Free Autumn DigiScrap Leaves: 2 Sets 2 Ways

Update: 2 New Russet Autumn Leaf Cutout Duos for Scrapping + General Crafting

I adore autumn weather. I have been known to take a not-so-secret delight, even as a grown woman, in walking through piles of fallen leaves, just to hear them rustle about my ankles. The colors of autumn do please me the best. I actually find the best colors to fit my personal coloring in the Fall range, as well.

So here are the newest Leather cutout sets, now larger and in russet red, a favorite color of mine. These are both available in Digi and Print versions, so please read the Download choices below.

Also please notice our red guidelines below, along with any credits in each one of our posts here. Some things are in the Public Domain, while other things do have a few guidelines to follow out of fairness to the suppliers of the images being altered or used. Thanks for stopping by with your
