Springtime ATC Freebie Week Day 3

Today's Set is comprised of 2 separate downloads.

As resident artist here (so to speak), this has really been a fun challenge for me, sort of an assignment I have given to myself. I'd like to recommend using card stock if you choose to print them. I love comments and would enjoy knowing what my visitors think of this set.

Please respect all copyrights here, my own and others' included, by following the red letter Guidelines located at the foot of this post. Thank you.

This time around, I am taking inspiration from old or antique books. I have been an avid collector of such items for years. The hand marbled end papers of some older books fascinate me. Each one is unique and yet reflects the same basic idea. Some of my more fun projects have been based on old marbled end papers. So much fun!

The first of the 2 downloads displayed below is a current favorite. Offered in both vividly colorful swirls and in quiet, subdued neutral tones, the ATC Pocket set comes with matching smaller accessories. I hope you'll have fun using both kinds.

The second of the 2 downloads is the matching ATC Background card set of 3 each of both styles to match the envelopes and accessories. Please notice the Digital Brush Credits located between the second Display image and my red letter Guidelines. Thanks again!

Marvelous Marble 2: ATC Backgrounds

Continuing the theme from yesterday, here is Set No. 2.

This time, I chose to use a mid range blue, highlighted by a brassy golden color.

ATCs or Artist Trading Cards have a unique history worldwide. They arose as a form of exchange at the instigation of Swiss artist,
M. Vänçi Stirnemann. This was in 1997, making the art of ATCs very nearly 20 years old today. The artist called it a "Collaborative Cultural Performance." I call it fun!

For more on the unique and fascinating history of Artist Trading Cards, you may follow the link HERE.

For many, it is an enjoyable hobby, as nobody sells anything and all is freely traded, tiny artwork for tiny artwork. I've traded ATCs myself on and off over the years, and found it a fascinating way to see the work of my fellow artisans. Fun!
:)

Below is a unique set of 6 slightly varying ATC backgrounds. They aren't intended to be traded as they are, but rather built upon using various media. Have fun, but please remember the ATC heritage of trading without selling. These are free. Let's keep them that way. Thank you.

Happy Creative trading!

ATC Background Freebies: Marvelous Marble No. 1

I take my inspiration from antique hand marbled paper for my new ATC sets.

Below is the first set, done all in bronze, ochre, taupe and coffee brown. Others will soon appear here, but in different color ways and slightly different in design.

Free Steampunk Stone and Brass Frame

Steampunk Frame!
There are varying degrees of Steampunk-ness, and likewise several sub-genres of that creative way of self expression. Though some really do go for airships and their accoutrements, others tend to enjoy trains more.

I really do love trains, so when the antique locomotive button used for this project was found over at Wikimedia Commons, I almost slipped a cog out of sheer delight!

For this frame, that antique locomotive button has been set, if you will, in a faux "brass" bezel. The faux brass inlays in each quadrant are set into tiny sprockets, also made to look a little like inlay.

This might be fun to use in an art project, such as an altered book or visual journal. We ask respectfully that our guests will not sell this item, as the very basis for it (and the reason, therefore, for its existence) has a Share-alike License over at Wikimedia. We respect the work of the artist who made that image available for our use, and have already attributed Shakko's work in two previous posts, both with similar frames. Each frame was made via the same image that Shakko has offered for free use only.

Such a person deserves Attribution for the photograph being used. Thank you for helping us to preserve the rights of others. We do not have that person's permission to sell that image or anything built upon that image, which means that this frame cannot legally be sold.

A new list of credits may be found below. We hope our guests will enjoy our new series of frames with their

Free Frame in Antique Rose

Antique Rose Stone and Mother of Pearl Frame

We here at Plush Possum Studio really enjoy giving away free things to the public. We do hope that our guests will choose to stay and take a deeper look into our long roster of Categories, just for fun. Please read and follow the red letter Guidelines at the foot of this post, as some copyrights apply in this case. Thank you.

As our frame collection has grown lately, it's a fun category to browse through. Today's offering will be a different color way from the malachite frame of a few days ago. Even the tone of the mother of pearl accents has been shifted so as to look right within its rosy toned setting.

For our original look of malachite and marble, you can go directly HERE.

We hope that you'll enjoy using our frame collection, but please protect our copyrights as well as the rights of the photographer whose picture we're using for this frame by crediting both us and that person. We list credits below our Display picture, as always. That person, who goes by the name of Sakko over at Wikimedia Commons, has been kind enough to supply the public with a very lovely picture which we've tried to use fairly enough. We do hope that you'll join us in that effort of fairness with your own credit or attribution, and likewise by never selling that artist's work. Thanks so much for cooperating with your
Happy Creativity!

New! Swirly Steampunk Marble Collage Background

Steampunk is a favorite genre with this possum, and as far as I'm concerned, we can never have enough fun with such a theme. It simply begs to be played with.
We hadn't posted anything steam-themed here in such a long while, it was time, and past time, to do so.
We began with an old marble book cover liner, then added some detailing via Obsidian Dawn's lovely digital brush sets, along with some color and multiple layers. So much fun!
We hope you'll find more than enough uses for this new collage background. We've made it big enough for most applications, ready to print out in 8.5" by 11" format (U.S. standard copier size) as well as in Digi PNG format so it may be manipulated and played with even more.
We ask that users please credit us for our work, especially if it is published in the U.S. (or elsewhere, for that matter), including online.
For our complete Steampunk collection, you can go HERE.
Thank you so much for stopping by with your--
Happy Creativity!

Chocolate Cherry Bonbon Heart Set + Matching Background

At last!
Our series of chocolate heart sets for your visual sweet tooth continues this afternoon with our second set, this time all about chocolates with cherry filling. It's basically the same set as our first one, but with a few changes, including colorway. The marble is from an antique book cover of the Victorian era.
You can expect to see another one upcoming, in a slightly creamier style.
I'm  especially fond of this particular set, as it was inspired by a Studio affiliate from the Great Plains, who has a real passion for cherries and chocolate.
:)
We hope she won't find herself having too big a craving for her favorite chocolate cherry cordials after seeing this post.
Anyway, here it is, with matching marble diamond background for your use.
For the first in this series, you can go HERE.
Happy Chocolate Creativity!

They require that attribution for their brushes be included in the description of the source material and processes in each art piece.
And it won't cost you  a dime.

Thank you for cooperating.

Steampunk Mask Blanks

Well, you can never have too much Steampunk--not if you're this possum, anyway! Our thoughts have turned to travel lately, from a standpoint of our favorite theme. To add to our selection of masks for your use this time (or anytime) of year, the obvious conclusion was to think in terms of travels abroad, especially by air.
For what Steampunker would be without her or his own flash airship? One certainly must be able to gauge where one is headed if aloft, then. And to add to the experience, we began to explore antique maps online for more inspiration.
Not only that, but one of our marble paper colors, sepia to be exact, looked so right in with these two sets, it was almost a given it belonged.
You'll note how, once again, we are relying on a large scale sheet as printing surface, that of 11" by 17", or standard Ledger Size in U.S. terms. Most U.S. printers may handle almost any format no broader than 11", so most of our visitors will find it easily printable, given the correct sheets of paper.
We also recommend that these be backed by either a stronger paper such as a semi flexible card stock, or with fabric of a smooth texture and fine grain prior to threading string/ribbons/yarn/what have you through the holes at either temple.
The possibilities here strike me. One might add, perhaps,  paper cogs or rusty metal machine parts , watch parts, little bits of ephemera or music box parts, then maybe add a few details from our cogged gems set, all to make a unique display of one's own.
Anyway, you get the intent with your--
Happy Creativity!
Rose

NOTE:
These masks are never to be repackaged for sale
You may use them, for free, but you must never sell
any of them for any reason.
I have exclusive copyrights to their final design.
The same applies to all of my party accessories.
It's simply the LAW (that is a link).
In other words, my pre-packaged work, my Steampunk party accessories included, is not for sale, and is never meant to be, and this carries over into the choices which you,
my guests here at PPS, are allowed to make by law.
All of the party accessories took many, many hours of painstaking work, so I would like it if you would only share and attribute
(with links, please, back to the source, which is right here),
and never repackage for sale, any of my work.
While parts of my work still come from copyright free sources, some do come with Licenses to copy and use,
but never to sell for any reason, in any way, shape or form.
I may be free to use them, but would never abuse that privilege.
Plush Possum Studio will continue
to uphold the copyrights of others.
Thank you for joining me in doing so.

More Marble in Colorful Frames!

The earlier set of frames comes in two styles, with drop shadow and without. These are all about the drop shadow look, which I found distinctive.
They also come in 2 formats, Digi (no background) and Print. Hands-On artists will find our "JPG Print Version" links of use, while our Digital style artists may want to go for the "Digi PNG Version" links.
Today's post features our drop shadow variety only, and in color ways not featured with this pattern before.
Made from an antique book's leather cover plus a second antique book's marble front cover, we've combined the two and then played with color, shadow, and so on.
There are 6 colors being offered in both the Digi and the print formats.
Hope you have fun working with our various colorways! And you know what I'll be trying next--the purple. ;)

Happy Creativity!

Leather Look Frames with Marble Detailing

Good morning! What a fine summer morning it is here, too! Hope it's a lovely day wherever you happen to be as well.
This time, we offer a new set of frames from our PPS Originals lineup for use free online or elsewhere.
You may print, alter, etc., any one or all of these frames. What we ask is that you never repackage them for sale. In the spirit of fairness, we ask that you also remember always to please give credit where it is due whenever using any of our original clipart or ephemera items. You might want to consider encouraging others to find us here online at PPS as well- we love our new visitors! And Thank You for taking these few easy steps to ensure fairness in our blogosphere.
Below, you'll see we've thought of both our Digi and Hands-On style artists, making it possible to use every choice two ways. If you're into using digital means for your artwork, make sure to click on the "Digi PNG" heading's link for items without any backgrounds for you to get rid of. And, if you like the Hands-on approach best, be sure to click on the "JPG Print Version" heading's link for your printable choice(s).
We offer this one in 2 styles (2D and 3D Looks) and 4 colorways, with other colorways planned for a future post or posts.
Hope you enjoy our new way to frame out your artwork, and, as usual, we wish you---
Happy Creativity!

TODAY'S FREE IMAGERY: Parts of an antique book

This is a 115 year old copy of The Complete Works of Shakespeare. I include for your enjoyment its spine, which has a lovely tattered appeal for me. Its leather covers were falling off as I picked it up. I hope someday to include a few pages from it here. The whole thing is bound rather like a dictionary, with indents for your thumb, and labeled, gold on black inside each tiny indent. This won't show up on a scanner, unfortunately, but we have some fun stuff to play with here anyhow.
The Plush Possum

Remember to always click on your chosen imagery
to get the biggest size I offer. This will ensure the
quality will be of a higher grade.
