The Final Four Dressing Gown Colors for Victoria!

Free Paper Doll Dressing Gowns in 4 New Colors

On offer today in the Studio's blog are the four final colors for Victoria's cosy and feminine Dressing Gown. Please do not ever sell any of the Paper Doll items found here, unless it is specified in red, below, that you may do so.

This dressing gown will best fit the New Look Paper Dolls (A total of five separate downloads, one for each hair color choice for the same doll may be found HERE.)

The Final Four colors are: Magenta, Violet Blue, Teal, and Coffee Brown. I am fond of them all. I was actually surprised when I found myself enjoying the Coffee one. While I love all of the tones in the brown family of colors, I hadn't thought that this might work out as well as it did. I 'd only made it brown just for the fun of it, and to see what it would look like. Now I find that I actually like it! I truly hope that you do too.

The first 3 colors to the set may be found by following the link HERE.

**This might be fun to take to a sleepover party, wouldn't you agree?
:)

Soon, I hope to have some paper doll storage ideas offered here, including some pretty and fun ideas that could be useful for both young and old and all ages in between.

Happy Playtime Creativity!

Coloring Page: a Lady on Horseback!

Color Me an Autumn Ride!

I loved to color when I was a child. It's still an enjoyable pastime for me and many others of all ages. Please see the red letter Guidelines below. Thank you.

I've had to re-make the horse's belly for this one, along with the girth strap there, as the original had been drawn to be either incomplete, or else was simply badly rendered. This required me to remember the anatomy of horses in general. While I am not entirely satisfied with it, I think that it's now somewhat better than it was before I began to fix its looks.

In fact, it would be more fit to actually be riding! You see, the girth strap is the main force which keeps the saddle in place. The way that it had been first done, however, there was a wickedly big gap between the horse's "barrel" (or rib area), and the strap! This meant that the lady perched atop the horse's back, in all her finery, would probably have very quickly landed in that brook she's jumping her horse over!

Now that both look much safer performing their exciting leap over the water, I feel at last a bit better about the safety of both horse and rider.

I am prepared to offer two color ways for this one: Black & White and Sepia. I will post the Sepia one here first.

Happy Horseback Ride!

Paper Doll Teatime 2

Victoria's Teatime Outfit has a New Color!

Thus far, there has been only one color way to choose for this pretty, classic little outfit. The Story of the outfit is in the first Teatime post, HERE.

Color Choice No. 2 is what this post is all about. Please read all red letter Guidelines and credits in this blog. Thank you.

This turned out to be a bit more challenging than I'd expected. Once it began to take its proper shape, in order to fit the doll, I became really excited about it!

The next  teatime Outfit will be in Color No. 3!

Happy Playtime Creativity!

Let's try this one again, but with a soft, pretty Turquoise or Teal color, shall we?

I was having too much fun to want to stop!

Please read all credits and red letter Guidelines here at the blog. Thank you.

There are already 3 other colors for this sweet Sunday dress here at the Studio's blog. My personal favorite to this point is the Pink one, but this teal might fall right in line beside it.

Free New Paper Doll Teatime Outfit

A Special Gift from Victoria's Grandmother

Please read and keep the red letter Guidelines (see below) and copyrights in this post. Thank you.

The Story
Today is a very special day for Victoria Lacey, the imaginary orphaned young lady. She has kept her promise to her Grandmother Lacey to become a little bit more aware of her responsibilities as an older girl ought to do. She is showing a great deal of promise in her studies of various languages, along with history and geography. Because of these things she's been doing, her grandmother is quite pleased with her growth as a young person.

To show her just how very pleased she is making her whole extended family in both Great Britain and America (you'll recall that she has relatives on both sides of the Atlantic ocean), Grandmother Lacey has given her a lovely article of clothing which she's kept for just such an occasion.

It is teatime, and the cook is off duty for the evening. As Victoria is preparing a pleasant teatime repast, her Grandmother Lacey comes upon her from behind with a box that has been tied shut for nearly fourteen years.

Victoria is astonished, yet she accepts the gift with genuine joy. You see, dear reader, inside the pretty old box is an apron that had once been her mother's. In fact, the apron was made by none other than Grandmother Lacey herself for Victoria's American mother, Amy Lacey.

Now, Amy Lacey had been a great beauty in her day, as well as a sportswoman and a scholar, so we can see where Victoria has acquired many strong character traits, can't we?

The bows at the side of the skirt of the apron have been replaced by Grandmother Lacey, and the lovely old fashioned apron of 1870's origin is now Victoria's, to wear at home.

The two are having their lovely tea. A few finger sandwiches, followed by a special cherry pie is their favorite way of enjoying a quiet and more private evening whenever the household staff is away for an evening. Why is this pie special? It is dear to both of our tea drinkers because the recipe for that cherry pie was brought across the Atlantic by Victoria's mother not long after she'd married Victoria's father (and Grandmother Lacey's son). As for the cherries themselves, these were bottled ( some would call it either canned or jarred) by her Aunt Martha using cherries from the very same orchard in which Martha and Amy had played together as young girls.

Outside the rear windows of Grandmother Lacey's London townhouse one may yet see the tree which grew from a cherry stone which Victoria's mother herself had planted prior to her daughter's birth. When it is springtime, lovely snowy blossoms glow upon every twig of that tree, and the little birds that nest in its branches sing sweet songs to the sky every fine day.

The two ladies, one older and graying, the other with her entire adult life yet to be lived, sit gladly sipping warming cups of tea and talking of old memories.

The End

Happy Teatime Creativity!

Free Scary Dragon Coloring Page

Dragon versus a Boy and his animal friends!

This is a thriller of a picture, isn't it? It sends shivers right through me. I wouldn't recommend this for the younger crowd who are prone to nightmares or who frighten easily.

All the same, I think dragon tales are fascinating, don't you? So when I stumbled upon this image in the archives, I chose to create a new Coloring Page for us all to enjoy.

I've enlarged it to fit the normal parameters here at the Studio's blog, that is to say, borders of around a half inch wide, and on all 4 sides. Following that procedure, I always check for flaws and blots or mistakes in the initial copy's printing or scanning process. This one required very little cleaning, if I recall my facts correctly.

The boy is trapped in such a precarious spot! The monkeys are scrambling to join him on his branch. The dragon is too fierce for him to fight. The poor cow or young bull suffers a mortal loss. I cannot help feeling sorry for the poor beast!

I imagine that the boy's one chance for survival would be to wait for one of two things. One of those would be  that help would come, as in a gathering of grownups with muskets or rifles with which to chase away or kill the ugly, scaly brute. Another would be that the dragon might eventually be full enough of all of that poor cow's meat to become sluggish or sleepy, thereby allowing the boy (and the two monkeys) to flee carefully and then to seek help.

Stories abound around the world of troublesome creatures with scaly hides, clawed feet, big teeth, long tails, and ridged backs. These are mentioned in some of our most ancient historical documents, from Ancient China to India to Wales and other UK locations, Scandinavian countries, and so forth.

So here it is, in all of its scary, fiery excitement!

Happy (or in this case, scary LOL) Coloring Creativity!

Paper Doll Dressing Gown, Colors 1, 2 and 3

Victoria's Dressing Gown has a New Look now, too!

Victoria had this dressing gown a few years ago. While it did appear to fit the older look doll, with the updated New Look dolls, there was cause for a remodel. Once that was accomplished, I then played with color, and have found several new, pretty colors from which Paper Doll enthusiasts can now choose.

Let's begin with the first 3 New Look colors today. Later on this month, I will try to add the rest of the colors here in a new post.
please check with me at G+ or here with a comment, if you happen to have any questions.

The story behind dressing gowns in general may be summed up simply. Young ladies faced challenges during dressing time each day. Sometimes, the wealthier women of the era were known to change clothes several times a day, which is way they needed maids for that purpose. Houses were often chilly then, so a dressing gown was worn over underclothes as one put one's hair in order for the occasion.

In Victoria's case, there is much less fuss. She will dress for the day, as well as for dinner, and then change one more time before bed. For formal occasions, she is often given a pretty dress to wear. Her grandmother may dress grandly for special outings, and she enjoys fashion quite well enough. All the same, she has chosen to allow Victoria to have a greater interest in how to make her way in the world over and ahead of simply being a fashionable young lady.

Before Victoria are numerous heirs to her grandmother's moderate fortune. This has meant that either becoming well educated or marrying the right man are the two choices available for our young Victoria Lacey, for she will stand to inherit very little.

She has been guided by her grandmother into becoming well educated prior to even thinking of getting married. This is natural, for at Grandfather Lacey's sudden departure from this world, his wife was left with the bulk of his estate to take care of, a task which she had never been trained to perform. She wants things for her orphaned granddaughter which she herself had never been able to have as a young person.

"An independent woman of refinement," she tells Victoria, "can make a living of her own, but it must be done in the just right way."

I like this dressing gown, for it is both practical and pretty. It now will be shown in the first 3 colors: Sapphire, Garnet and Emerald (which was the color of the first dressing gown of 4 years ago).

Oh--and please be sure to see her very own page in the task bar below this blog's banner. There are things in there that are about to be removed due to quality issues, but those are few and may soon be replaced with better quality clothes and fit for the doll.

Color No. 2 for the Free Paper Doll Dress

Victoria's Sunday Dress in Color No. 2

It became clear that now that there are more choices for children and parents among the dolls and their outfits, that it was right to add still further color choices.
I am having FUN with this idea!!!
:)

Please read and follow all Credits, copyrights and red letter Guidelines for each separate post, as these do vary. Thank you.

The original version of this little outfit was found elsewhere online by yours truly. Subsequently, it was refreshed in look and enlarged for easier playtime fun.

Now, recently, this doll's looks were made to appear a little more refined and perhaps more clear. It took an afternoon of trial and error with Photoshop processes in order to make her look feminine, but not overly childish. I wanted her mild mannered look to remain, naturally. But I also wanted her to grow up a bit more for us.

Her hair style was making fitting antique fashion plates to her shape a real nightmare at times. Many things simply do not fit a doll of this type or shape. So her hair style or coiffure, if you will, simply had to change. This was updated recently in the "New Look" series of hair colors in 5 choices ( Please see Victoria's Page in the task bar below the blog's banner for links to every post).

Since that point, new outfits and color choices have become my habit. I seem to be stuck in Paper Doll mode at the moment!
:)

The following dress and hat is in a soft, pale violet blue, although some might see it as being lavender in color.

Note the Hat Tab, in gray. This would be best fitted carefully by somebody grown. I'd begin with small amounts of glue stick glue at the very top edges first, fitting as you go along.

This was made specifically for New Look Doll No. 4. However, if enough of you are keen on having all hats with hair match every doll, then I will try and put together a few Hat and Accessory posts.

In fact, I might try to figure out how to go about doing just that for you, with several hats per doll included in each post, perhaps.

How the Doll's Standard Should Actually Look

How the project will look when done

This is only for Display purposes, of course. However, it seemed neglectful of me not to have include this in yesterday's post here at the Studio.

Included are some probably useful hints for successful completion of this little project.

The Download Link for the Template (or Pattern) may be found by following the Link HERE.

One more hint:
A little bit of something slightly heavy could add more stability once the doll is erect and attached. A coin or some other small item could help keep gusts of air from knocking her flat.

Happy Playtime Creativity!
