Antique Photograph: A Young Girl, Seated

This is one of our earlier collectibles to come into the Studio. We're especially fond of those high button shoes! Note her bracelet, along with her very large bow. Don't you love that hairstyle? It just goes to show you things don't change all that much. We still have our children's portraits taken at the local photographer, where they pose and (hopefully) smile--and at just the right moment. Hers was not a wealthy family or neighborhood, despite the bracelet. This is shown by her little scuffed shoe tips, and by her relatively simple dress. This was no "Little Princess," then, and hers was no "Secret Garden." Rather, we have a child here who most likely walked nearly everywhere she went. The little bit of the devil to her expression shows she must have raised cain fairly often--or, at least thought about doing so!
Happy Creativity from all of us at PPS!
