Three Muses Challenge: "Newspaper"

LOVE this newest Three Muses Challenge! It's been quite a while since I'd played, and I simply adored this week's Muse, Ann's, way with her artwork, so I decided to join the fun.
I've taken my first cue from her, both with her witty and wise theme, and with styling. I hope she won't mind my emulating her this way. There's so much to her latest piece that really inspired me and wowed me down to my stripey socks! ;)
So here it is, my own newspaper theme/zetti style cutout collage (all done digitally, of course), entitled "Her Heart Was Butterfly Light."
NOTE: If you are joining us here for the first time, please refrain from copying any of my own personal artwork such as you find here today. Most all of what we post on PPS is all about free goodies for your use. In fairness, I ask you to always keep my copyright secured.
Thank You.
Happy Three muses Challenge!

More Marble in Colorful Frames!

These frames come in two styles, with drop shadow and without.
They also come in 2 formats, Digi (no background) and Print. Hands-On artists will find our "JPG Print Version" links of use, while our Digital style artists may want to go for the "Digi PNG Version" links.
Today's post features our drop shadow variety only, and in colorways not featured with this pattern before.
Made from an antique book's leather cover plus a second antique book's marble front cover, we've combined the two and then played with color, shadow, and so on.
I'm posting our 3 Halloween colors here first, followed by 3 new colors usable in a variety of non-holiday oriented projects.
Hope you have fun working with our various colorways! And you know what I'll be trying next--the purple. ;)
For more of our leather and marble frames, you can go HERE.
Happy Creativity!

Halloween Collage Backgrounds With a Twist!

This marble pattern is a favorite of yours truly. It is from an old book found online at one of the Public Domain web arenas. We turned it into ATC backgrounds with our first ever Halloween post, and this week are continuing to offer its new colorways, but in large style format.
I'm crazy about the purple version, and may have to really mess around with it in more ways than one!
Hope you can find lots of ways to use 'em!
Happy Creativity!

Novelty Party Mask: A Veiled Victorian Lady

Oh, she's big. There's no doubt you'd require 11" by 17" (or legal document size, U.S. terms) paper to print this lovely new addition to the line-up.
I love her discreet smile, along with her sweet hat, don't you? And her veil gives her such sophisticated style!
For more novelty items such as the one below, go HERE.
Once again, we'd like to suggest to our readers that they might want to reinforce any of our printable masks by laminating the paper print-offs to card stock or some other somewhat stiffer yet flexible paper board.
This time, you'll require two separate printings, one for each side, as her veiled hat is quite sizable. Note the tabbed version to the Right Half (to see it, just click its download link, below).
Also, it may be advisable to attach some kind of rod, such as a dowel, or perhaps a flat paddle (paint stir sticks may be short, but could hold up, and might be decorated to match) to her back side, unless you wouldn't mind the hat being so broad.
NOTE: we camouflaged her string holes from both sides in our print versions, but they are still perceivable.
We love her, and hope you will too.
Happy Creativity!

More Primary Color Fun!

Once again, we find ourselves taking our inspiration from the Gingersnap Creations design team. And what a great idea! It's such a great idea, I couldn't stop playing around with the theme myself!
This time, we feature 4 different ways you can pattern those backgrounds. Come to think of it, these might do well as fabrics for paper doll type dressing, both in collage and in paper dolling it up.
Hope you'll enjoy playing with our newest addition to this fun and vibrant theme of the primary colors of yellow, red and blue.
For more of our stock in their theme, go HERE. All elements we're including for this theme are matching, so you hopefully won't find one blue item, let's say, not matching another item of the same color.
In other words, they all match and mate just like a good line of kids' clothing! ;)
And do check out all the doings at Gingersnap--they've really got more fun than you can shake a paintbrush at! ;)
Oh--one more thing. We've grayed the margin area of our last offering in order to allow the white checks to stand out. Hope you won't mind using a little extra black ink in the print.
Happy Creativity!
Rose

Another Halloween Treat

Meet our newest addition to our growing collection of fun free party gear, our "Who's Crabby?" This is a male of the species, btw.
We're having too much fun to stop, and may have to put on the brakes, because both the new season (love fall-always have!) and Halloween itself offer so many chances to try out different ideas, they're almost uncountable.
Please forgive our point of reference cutting line--it really was rushed through.  :P
Also, we advise backing any of our mask patterns you find here with something stiff enough though somewhat flexible, such as card stock, and then marking your two string holes (if preferred over, say, a dowel for a handle) from behind before piercing and threading in that string you've chosen. I've always believed it to be best, when adding anything tied on to edges, etc, to reinforce those edges before tying, as in, clear tape at the back or perhaps a small piece of card glued into place beforehand.
I've gone for as regulated an eyehole distance as doable on this one. Though it might not ft everyone, it will most likely fit most faces. Simply take it to a copy center for adjustment via their color photocopiers and adjust accordingly.
Also, he might look quite festive if colored using pencils, etc. I happen to love his "as is" old fashioned look, myself, but some may feel differently.
For our other Halloween posts, go HERE.
Anyhow, we hope you'll have a great weekend, and perhaps even avoid any real crabby moments. ;)
Happy Creativity!

Our First Wallpapers--Steampunk Style!

Yesterday was a good day for me to hunker down, stay out of the sun (97 degrees!), and play around with a new idea: wallpaper!
Our stats show a number of you like Steampunk so well, you want to use it in new ways, including in wallpaper, stationary (we posted some a while ago HERE), photo frames--the list seems endless!
So here we have our first offering of wallpapers for your computer's screen, all credited to yours truly.
All were done in a scaled down way, at 72 dpi rather than our for-print and Digi 300-720 dpi offerings. If these had been made for your use with digital means or to be print-worthy, I'd have given them the same treatment, but trust me, they would only end up looking messy or grainy on your monitor otherwise (there are only 72 pixels per square inch to most monitors, not including medical and other industrial style new tech advances which most people will never see, let alone handle).
I had a lot of fun playing with this one, so I hope you won't mind how many versions of the same theme, colorway, and so on, are posted here! Just call me wallpaper crazy!--and Steampunk theme crazy too! :)
To see the entirety of our currently posted Steampunk stock, go HERE, where you'll find even a background or two, along with clip art, including some Digi style items for you to use--all free of course! That's the PPS way.
Happy Creativity!
Rose

P.S. Please note I have copyrighted each of these. Which means, though they are available to be used by others, you may not sell them or repackage them in any way, much less claim them to be your own work.
This is the right of any artist, no matter their position in the arts.
We respect the rights of others, and hope you'll do the same.
Thank You

Primary Color Fun!

Our friends at Gingersnap Creations are always coming up with new ideas for using color, materials, themes, and good products. We're following them again this week with their salute to children via the three primary colors of red, yellow and blue. Last month, we were all about Steampunking it up online, with lots of somber tones with aged metallics, so this truly is a nice way of working in full blown color again.
Below, you'll find we really stretched ourselves this month with a larger than ever offering to fit our theme. It's taken 3 days to prepare this one, but it was sheer pleasure all the way around.
There are two background collage pages, along with our first ever homemade clipart alphabet in red "Dotted Swiss."
Digi artists will find more than one way to go, while our Hands-On or Print crowd can easily utilize all but our 3D style alphabet. We're sorry about that last bit. One of the digital processes used produces a strong shadow effect which did not reproduce well enough to make it print-worthy. In the final analysis, we decided to offer that 3D alphabet in Digi format only. But all the rest of our designs print well enough that you should have very little, if any, difficulty there.
All designs were executed from the ground up, from the patterned works they were based on. We had a little help, of course, from Digi Brush Artist, missgmoore. Also, our alphabet is based on a Digi font called Carbono, which the fine people over at dafont.com offer for free, along with lots of other choices. Hope you'll visit all 3 links we've listed here when you get the chance.
Happy Creativity!

Pre-Halloween Party Gear

Today, we're following the online resolution to get ready for Halloween early this year. Seems everywhere we go now in our blogosphere, people are already preparing for this fun and creative excuse to craft to their hearts' contents using paper, rubber stamps, and the like.
Prompted by the sense of urgency others are engaged in, we posted our very first ever Halloween post a few days ago (just imagine!-and August not yet done!), a selection of ATC backgrounds in classic Halloween colors. You can find that post HERE.
This time, however, we're offering a new line of fun party wear, our first to be introduced here.
Meet Mr. Bones, and his companion in the crypt, Ms. Moth. Both had to be reprocessed for wear, and both should fit just about any grown up person or one whose head and face would conform. They have not been sized for children, for whom there are different safety regulations, anyway.
Mr. Bones had to be reformatted so he'd be printable, and so has been given his own size sheet of paper. In the USA, this would be called "Legal Document Size," or 11 inches by 17 inches. Unfortunately, I have no conversion for our friends overseas.
Ms. Moth, though, will fit any 8.5 inch by 11 inch standard sized copier/printer paper.
We highly recommend backing both with something flexible but sturdy, perhaps heavier paper such as card stock, and so on.
Also, it might be advisable to head for the nearest copy center for full color copies from a toner based machine. Toner can withstand the rigors of gluing far better than inkjet printer ink, which is prone to running and smearing if dampened. Just a word of caution.
If you have any trouble printing either of today's features, please give us a shout. You know where we blog! ;)
I'm toying with the idea of embellishing Ms. Moth for my own uses, right down to using my favorite sparkling gel pens by Sakura. They make nearly every hue of Ms. Moth's coloring now, and so would really match her well. And, if all else fails, there's a growing supply of ultra fine glitters here in our Studio. Love to use glitter. Can't do without the stuff! :)
Here's to another fall season, with all the trimmings, and--
Happy Creativity!

Leather Cutouts & Frames

These leather cutouts remind me very much of the crafts projects we kids used to run across when still in grade school. When I wasn't on the playground, or running through a sprinkler, I generally had a mind to get crafty, and I'll bet most of you felt the same way.
Our sets today include both Digi and Hands-On varieties to choose from. In them, I think you may find there's more to play with than usual. This leather just begged to be played around with, and using the "cookie cutter" features in PSE8 became the fun way to go.
I love doodads, don't you? ;)
Lots of 'em here, along with a few frames, a background or two, and so on.
Digi artists, please make certain you click on the link marked "Digi PNG", and Hands-On artists may want to look for the label, "JPG Print."
Hope you'll enjoy playing around with our autumn cutouts, frames, &c, right on into our upcoming season.
Happy Creativity!

Halloween ATC Background Set #1

If you're anything like me, you love to dress up and act silly for one evening with others doing the same. I mean, Halloween's a culturally encouraged way for anyone to play act a little, pretend to be Joan of Arc, Zorro, royalty, and so on. I know somebody who used to keep an 18th century ball gown and tall, fancy wig in the back of her closet just for such occasions. But you wouldn't normally catch this person in her getup at any time during the rest of the year! ;)
So here you have it, our very first Halloween post. I love the colors too. Put orange, purple and green together, and I'm generally pretty pleased. I think orange and purple were meant to be used together, especially for this very playful holiday.
Happy (oh so early!) Halloween Creativity, everybody!

Leather Look Frames with Marble Detailing

Good morning! What a fine summer morning it is here, too! Hope it's a lovely day wherever you happen to be as well.
This time, we offer a new set of frames from our PPS Originals lineup for use free online or elsewhere.
You may print, alter, etc., any one or all of these frames. What we ask is that you never repackage them for sale. In the spirit of fairness, we ask that you also remember always to please give credit where it is due whenever using any of our original clipart or ephemera items. You might want to consider encouraging others to find us here online at PPS as well- we love our new visitors! And Thank You for taking these few easy steps to ensure fairness in our blogosphere.
Below, you'll see we've thought of both our Digi and Hands-On style artists, making it possible to use every choice two ways. If you're into using digital means for your artwork, make sure to click on the "Digi PNG" heading's link for items without any backgrounds for you to get rid of. And, if you like the Hands-on approach best, be sure to click on the "JPG Print Version" heading's link for your printable choice(s).
We offer this one in 2 styles (2D and 3D Looks) and 4 colorways, with other colorways planned for a future post or posts.
Hope you enjoy our new way to frame out your artwork, and, as usual, we wish you---
Happy Creativity!
